Okay, my little dreamer… last one for tonight, yeah? You’re looking sleepy already. Let’s pull the blanket up and do a few quiet breaths… in… out… in… out… Perfect.
This one’s a little different. It’s about a tiny cloud that floated way up high.
There was a small, fluffy cloud—just a puff, really—drifting all alone across the big sky. No other clouds nearby. The wind pushed him this way and that, but he felt kinda lonely, like he didn’t have anywhere to stop.
One evening, as the sun went down and the sky turned soft pink and blue, the cloud floated over a little house with a red roof. Smoke curled from the chimney, and the windows glowed warm yellow.
The wind whispered to the cloud, “Listen…”
So the cloud leaned in close—well, as close as a cloud can—right up against the chimney.
And inside the house… he heard a soft voice. A kind, slow voice reading a story. Maybe about animals, or stars, or something cozy. The voice went up and down gently, with pauses in between, like it was wrapping the words in a blanket.
The cloud listened. His edges got softer… fuzzier… like he was melting a little in the best way.
He didn’t feel like floating anymore. No more drifting alone.
The cloud curled a small corner of himself around the moon, just to hold on. Then he settled right above the rooftop, light and still.
Down below, the house lights went out one by one. Everyone inside was sleeping now—safe and warm.
The cloud felt it too. That quiet, happy feeling.
He closed his fluffy eyes (or whatever clouds have) and slept—dreaming of soft voices and warm houses and not being alone.
The stars twinkled around him. The wind took a break. The night held everything gentle.
And the little cloud rested… peaceful and happy… right there above the red roof.
Goodnight, little cloud.
Goodnight, house.
Goodnight, my sweet dreamer. (This one’s my favorite for super quiet nights—feels like the whole world’s listening. I whisper the “listen…” part and pause long so they can hear the real house sounds settling. Even cuts through those random Dallas sirens or dog barks outside.)
